Exhibition(ist)

For Exhibition(ist), visitors had to peer through windows and in-between frames to view my self-portraits reflected in hanging mirrors and the reflective surface of the floor. Changing light, movement of the mirrors, outdoor conditions, and the insertion of their own reflections became integral to the viewer’s experience. Exhibition(ist) questioned the act of looking, which felt especially provocative during the show’s run amid a global pandemic. Funding for this show was provided by a project grant through the Iowa Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.
